Macugnaga, the Anzasca Valley, and the Distretto turistico dei Laghi (Lake tourist district)

Macugnaga and the Anzasca Valley, one of the Ossola valleys, are part of the Distretto turistico dei Laghi, and extend to the slopes of the east wall of the Monte Rosa massif, wedged right between the imposing chain of the Alps and lakes.

It’s a unique region that combines history and culture, in particular that of the Walser in common with the nearby regions beyond the Alps, with breath-taking landscapes. It is a coveted goal of ski enthusiasts in winter and climbers, hikers, and nature lovers in the summer.
